The church was packed one Saturday evening in September to enjoy the performance of this choir from Alcester – 45 members dressed elegantly in black.
But what were our audience expecting to experience – Last Night of the Proms , Hymns of Praise?
What came next was a delightful surprise. It was an evening of amazing singing from traditional African songs to Sinatra, The Beach Boys, Andy Williams and much more with the highly professional singers sometimes dividing into duos or quartets, and sometimes giving us solos sounding delightfully like the originals.
This choir of very skilled and well rehearsed amateurs gives its time and talent to raise money for good causes around the country – last year their concerts helped raise over £20,000 – but they very obviously enjoy themselves in the process and give huge delight to their audience.
The interval refreshments were much appreciated. Thanks to the Leopard, Jordans Fireworks, Tachbrook Stores, Mallory Court and many individuals for donating raffle prizes.
Grace, Daisy and Orla did brilliantly writing names on 500 raffle tickets and then folding them all up ready for the draw!
Thanks too to everyone who came along and contributed to the enthusiastic atmosphere. The proceeds of £720 have been divided equally between the Church and St Chads Centre.
