A46 temporary closures – February 2025

Balfour Beatty VINCI is working in partnership with HS2 Ltd and National Highways to construct a box structure to take the new HS2 line under the A46 near Kenilworth.

This is being built off-line and will be moved into place using a “box push” technique across the existing carriageway in spring 2025. To prepare, it will be necessary to alter the VRS (vehicle restraint system), central reservations layout and complete some advance works on the cross-carriageway drainage.

To complete these works safely, there will be temporary full weekend closures of the A46:

  • 8pm Friday 7 February to 6am Monday 10 February
  • 8pm Friday 14 February to 6am Monday 17 February

Following the weekend closures, there will be an ongoing lane closure northbound and narrow lanes to the southbound carriageway until the new box is in place.

There will also be a final longer closure later in the spring to push the new box into place. Further details of those works will be shared in the New Year.
