We are working on several initiatives with Warwickshire County Council (WCC) and Warwick District Council (WDC) and the local community to enhance pedestrian, cyclist, and traffic safety in Bishops Tachbrook.
Speed Limit Zones
We have funded 20mph active speed limit zones outside the new Oakley School and along Harbury Lane outside Heathcote School. These should be installed in the second quarter of 2025.
Footpath and Cycleway Developments
We have agreed with the developer to introduce a footpath and cycleway from Duke of York Avenue to Oakley School within six months of the Oakley Grove development starting.
Safety Improvements Around Schools
We are actively working with WCC on several other safety improvements around Heathcote School, and will keep pushing the police to take a more active role in enforcement around our schools at peak times.
Traffic Light Sequencing and Cycleway Classification
We are also working with WCC on other measures, such as improving the sequencing of the traffic lights at the Harbury Lane/ Tachbrook Road junctions and obtaining the path along Harbury Lane’s classification as a cycleway.
Connectivity Solutions
We are working with WCC/WDC to try and find a solution to address the lack of connectivity of Asps.
Proactive Infrastructure Approach
Going forward, we propose to take a proactive infrastructure-first approach to any development, looking to secure improvements to the Banbury Road junctions, active speed calming in the centre of the village around Church Hill, and ensuring the connections with any developments, existing and future, are properly connected via footpaths and cycleways as a priority in any development, not an afterthought.
