A final, Regulation 19 consultation has just been launched, seeking views on the soundness and legality of a development plan document (DPD) which will determine the future of the district’s canal-sides.

This is in line with Warwick District Council’s Local Plan and follows the designation of a Canal Conservation Area in 2019.

The draft document provides policies which will guide the Council on development along the district’s 40km of waterways, which includes sections of both the Grand Union and Stratford-upon-Avon Canals. Once approved the Plan will inform decisions on residential development, change of use of sites, environmental and social issues, access and tourism potential.

Details of the Canal-side Development Plan (DPD) can be found on the Warwick District Council website. The public have until 21 December 2020 to make their views on the legal compliance and soundness of the plan.
